80th Anniversary of the Victory of the War of Resistance: Beijing Historical and Cultural Exploration Journey
2025-10-15

In collaboration between the School's External Affairs Committee and the Chinese History Department, Ms. Chan Man Man led 10 of our Senior Secondary Chinese History students to participate in the 'Victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression 80th Anniversary Series: Beijing Historical and Cultural Exploration Journey (2025/26),' organized by the Education Bureau.Spanning six days and five nights from November 10 to 15, 2025, our students and teachers, joining a total of 88 representatives from seven other secondary schools across Hong Kong, embarked on a profound journey to trace our historical roots.

Stepping Out of the Classroom, Into the Scene of History

Coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance, this activity was not merely a field trip, but a "walking history lesson." The itinerary was meticulously designed with "immersive historical learning" at its core. Our school's delegation first traveled to Shenyang and then proceeded to Beijing, exploring the footprints of the resistance along the way and personally experiencing the profound history of the nation's founding.

In Shenyang, students visited the Shenyang Conservatory of Music, listening to the stirring melodies that sought to save the nation through art during those turbulent times. At the "9.18" Historical Museum, the atmosphere was solemn as the group retraced the magnificent epic of our forefathers' bloody battles. Additionally, visits to Lao Beishi (Old North Market) and the Shenyang Imperial Palace Museum provided students with a more three-dimensional understanding of the history and culture of Northeast China.

Converging in Beijing: Sharing Sentiments of Home and Country

Subsequently, the teachers and students transferred to Beijing to reunite with the Nanjing subgroup. During the Beijing leg of the journey, students visited the first Patriotic Education Base for Hong Kong and Macao Youth — the Museum of the War of Chinese People's Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the Lugou Bridge (Marco Polo Bridge), revisiting the arduous journey of the resistance amidst authentic historical settings.

It is worth mentioning that the students stepped into the Beijing Jiaozhuanghu Tunnel Warfare Site Memorial Hall for the first time, personally feeling the wisdom and courage of the people who used the "Underground Great Wall" to defend their homes and country. They also gained a deep understanding of the Long March spirit at the Museum of the Communist Party of China.

Student Reflections: Cherishing Peace and Striving Forward

Participating students expressed that this exploration made the history in their textbooks become vivid and "flesh and blood." Through on-site investigation, everyone not only deepened their knowledge of the history of the War of Resistance but also profoundly understood the importance of safeguarding national sovereignty and security. The school hopes that students will turn these insights into motivation, taking history as a mirror, cherishing peace, and transforming their patriotic sentiments into a driving force for learning and growth.
