Embracing the belief that “Every MSTer is a Leader,” our school endeavors to provide students with ample opportunities to widen their horizons, unleash their leadership potentials, and enhance their leadership skills so that they will become servant leaders who are receptive to advice, eager to serve and contribute, keen to evince respect and ready to shoulder responsibilities.
A form-level leadership training programme is organized for S.2 students to prepare them for leading roles in senior forms. A workshop is conducted for ECA committee members, and a day camp is arranged for newly appointed ECA committee members and Student Union committee members. Other tailor-made leadership training programmes are provided by different committees or teams for student leaders like School Prefects, Peer Mentors, School Librarians, members of The Hong Kong Red Cross Youth Unit, and The Hong Kong Boys’ Brigade respectively.
Students are encouraged to participate in various external leadership training programmes such as The “Hong Kong 200” Leadership Project and The YMCA Youth Leadership Development Scheme to widen their horizons. Selected students are nominated for district-wide and territory-wide elections or contests highlighting leadership skills, such as Tai Po Outstanding Student Selection and Hok Yau Club Outstanding Student Leaders Award.
