Over 700 guests, alumni, teachers, and students gathered at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University's Jockey Club Auditorium to enjoy a series of wonderful performances. The night came alive with joy and excitement. Notably, we were honored to have the delegations from Shanghai Southwest Weiyu Middle School and Dongguan Hengli Middle School, as well as members of Mok’s family (the descendants of Bishop Mok Sau Tseng) to attend to show their support.

Then, the first performance, "Pu Tian Tong Qing"(普天同慶) was presented by our school's Chinese Orchestra. Its festive melody and lively rhythm were like a gentle spring breeze, inviting our guests into a world of vibrant energy and immersive atmosphere.
Following that, the alumni and School Choir performed the opening theme song, "That Summer(某年夏季)", which narrated the school's history and memories while celebrating the deep bonds between teachers and students. The song deeply touched the audience and evoked countless precious memories.
The show captivated the audience with a series of wonderful musical performances. Our students demonstrated exceptional skills in performing complex piano pieces, showcasing their profound musical mastery. The recorder players, accompanied by the pianist, delivered passionate renditions pieces, with " Cai Lian Yao(採蓮謠)" holding special significance. This piece had originally been performed by our School Choir during the opening ceremony when our school was founded in 1975. Hearing it again after half a century resonated with deep emotions and rich historical meaning. Following this, our School Choir performed "You, My Prelude(上半生相遇)", a heartfelt tribute expressing gratitude for the guidance of their beloved teachers.
Next, the Alumni Choir added further depth and brilliance to the evening's musical experience. Ninety alumni sang "Home Is a Special Kind of Feeling and "In One Accord(只有和聲)" conducted by Ms Esther Chan, a respected and retired MST teacher, conveying messages of peace and unity. The lyrics were simple, and the melody was unadorned yet profound, reflecting our school's long-standing commitment to nurturing students' character through music and the results of that dedication.
Then, the School Orchestra performed “Ode to the Yellow River(黃河頌)", while our alumnus Prof. Alex Fan, MH, JP took on the piano solo. The piece was grand and powerful, symbolizing the indomitable spirit of the Chinese nation, while also conveying a message of facing challenges fearlessly and moving forward together.
Our school's Dance Team then presented the Chinese Dance "Cherry Blossom Rain(櫻花雨)", which won the "Outstanding Award" and "Choreography Award" at the 60th School Dance Festival. The students elegantly portrayed the scene of cherry blossoms dancing in the wind, symbolizing the brilliance and innocence of campus life, leaving the audience in awe. A group of alumni performed the award-winning Hmong(Miao) dance " Voidness(空……無)" from the Bauhinia International Dance Grand Prix 2024. The dance reflected profound thoughts on the eternal cycle of birth, living and death.
The English Drama Team delivered a stunning performance with "Murphy's Quest for Redemption and Adventure". The drama integrated Cantonese opera, Chinese martial arts, breakdancing, A Cappella and group dance, exploring the meaning of dreams and growth through a touching storyline. Written and directed by our alumnus Mr Ip Man Chong, the play featured both teachers and students collaborating on stage, showcasing not only dramatic tension but also the creativity and achievements of intergenerational cooperation.
Following that, 90 students and alumni jointly present the Dance Gala "My MST, Our MST(我、我們與莫記)" weaving together the past, present and future lives. Choreographed by our alumni Mr Chu Hei Yue, Ms Li Wing Yan and Mr Kwong Chun Pong, with the contribution of the Concept Creator Ms Ting Chi Man,the lively and energetic dance performance showcased the vibrancy of youth. Over the years, our school has nurtured countless outstanding dancers, and this performance featured alumni dancing alongside their children, symbolizing the continuity of education and the connections between generations, adding warmth to the show.
In closing, all guests, teachers, alumni, and students gathered on stage to sing the school song together. The resonant voices symbolized the enduring cohesion and unity of the MST family. The Variety Show not only paid tribute to the past 50 years but also heralded the beginning of a new chapter. Each performer gave the best performance with confidence and grace, reflecting their deep senses of belonging and connection to our school. Looking ahead, our school will continue to uphold the principle of whole-person education, fostering the diverse development of our students while passing on our glorious traditions as we strive for even greater achievements.
