To celebrate our school's 50th anniversary and further deepen the bond with our sister school in the Mainland, the External Affairs Committee successfully organized the "Sister School Visit: Shanghai Southwest Weiyu Middle School Study Tour" from December 19 to 24, 2025. Led by Principal Ms.Wong Lee Lee and Mr. Lau Wai Yip, a delegation of twenty Secondary 2 and 3 students embarked on a six-day immersive learning journey in Shanghai.
The itinerary was comprehensive, adopting a "half-day academic, half-day exploration" model. In the mornings, students immersed themselves in the classrooms of Southwest Weiyu Middle School, engaging in academic exchanges with local students. During the visit, our students not only experienced the beauty of traditional craftsmanship by making "Mother-of-pearl Inlay" (Luodian), a national intangible cultural heritage, but also strengthened the friendship between the youths of both regions through friendly table tennis matches. The atmosphere was harmonious and enthusiastic.
Coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, the tour included a special visit to the Shanghai Songhu Memorial Hall for the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Through on-site visits, students gained a profound understanding of the history of our motherland's resistance, thereby enhancing their sense of national identity and passing on the spirit of patriotism.
Beyond campus exchanges and historical education, the delegation also visited numerous Shanghai landmarks and cultural sites, including Yuyuan Garden, the Oriental Pearl Tower, Zhujiajiao Ancient Town, and the West Bund Dream Center, as well as enjoying a trip to Shanghai Disney Resort. From the dazzling lights of the Huangpu River night cruise to tasting authentic local delicacies such as fresh meat mooncakes and Xiao Long Bao, students fully experienced the unique charm of Shanghai where ancient history meets modern development, along with its distinctive "Haipai" (Shanghai-style) culture.
This exchange tour not only broadened the students' international horizons but also promoted a deeper understanding of national affairs. Both teachers and students returned with fruitful results and cherished memories.
