Form 5 Geography students joined the field study course offered by Ho Koon Nature Education Centre on 25 September 2024.

In the morning, students gathered at Ho Koon Centre in Tsuen Wan and instructed by professional tutors, they got familiar with the coastal environment around Ting Kau by studying maps and aerial photographs, as well as the use of tools and instruments for coastal study. In the afternoon, students conducted field studies at the sandy beach and coastal waters of Lido Beach, to collect data about wind direction and speed, wave energy, processes of deposition, coastal gradient and longshore drift. Last but not least, they processed and analyzed the field data in the laboratory to prove the validity of related theories.

All the participants enjoyed this precious chance of outdoor learning and the fruitful experience in the testing of theories in authentic environments.
