On 20 Dec 2024, over thirty Form 3 and Form 4 students joined a guided tour called the "Hong Kong Museum of The War of Resistance and Coastal Defense Heritage Trail," organized by the History and Chinese History Departments.
The docent took the students on an exciting journey along the heritage trail, showing them different weapons and explaining how they were used. From the torpedo launch station in the coastal caves to the fortifications at the top of the hill at Lei Yue Mun, the tour covered 24 heritage sites. Students learned about the strategic importance of the Lei Yue Mun Strait and how this military fortress once played a key role in guarding the area. They also enjoyed the beautiful mix of man-made structures and natural scenery.
At the end of the tour, while soaking in the stunning views of Lei Yue Mun, students pulled out their phones to snap pictures of the amazing sights: the clear blue sea, the cruise ships sailing by, and even the cute bird statues by the railing.
Overall, this guided tour gave students a richer understanding of Hong Kong's military history and showed them how closely it relates to the city's defense during the wars.
