Since its establishment in 1970, the Lunchtime Recitals of the St.John's Cathedral  has been providing a performance platform for both local and international musicians on Wednesdays. The Choir Chaplain at that time, the Revd Patrick Nicholas, had noticed that a substantial number of tourists and people working in Central would come into the Cathedral during lunchtime to relax or pray. He then enlisted the help of Mr David Cheung Sr and Miss Mary Moore in recruiting local performers and promotion, thus launching the first lunchtime recital.

On 11 Sep 2024, our Alumnus Lee Hoi-yan (Class of 2013) performed a mezzo-soprano solo at the Lunchtime Recital, accompanied at the piano by another Alumnus, Au Wai-man (Class of 2001).
