From 30 June 2024 to 7 July 2024, the External Affairs Committee and the CSD Department led 40 Form 1 to Form 6 students on a study tour to Chongqing. The purpose was to allow the students to experience Chongqing's history, economic development and cultural heritage.
On the first day, the students had a night exploration of Jiefangbei and Hongya Cave, where they enjoyed the vibrant nightlife in the city center of Chongqing and witnessed the country's economic development.
The second day started with a trip to Dongshan Village, where the students participated in hands-on activities and learned to make the famous Chongqing-style red bean dumplings. Later, they ventured to Wulong District in Chongqing to watch the large-scale live-action musical drama "Charming Wulong" directed by Zhang Yimou, which introduced them to the culture of the Sanxia and the history of the boat trackers and weeping marriage customs.
On the third day morning, the students visited the Wulong Three Natural Bridges, a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, where they marveled at the marvelous work of nature and experienced the karst landforms. In the afternoon, they visited the Chiyou Jiuli Cheng, the birthplace of the Miao ethnic group, to learn about Miao history. In the evening, they returned to Chongqing and explored the mountainous trails and rode the unique light rail that passes through buildings, further understanding the mountainous nature of Chongqing.
On the fourth day morning, the students roamed the Ciqikou Ancient Town old street and then journeyed to the renowned Chongqing University. The university, known for producing talented individuals, warmly welcomed the students and allowed them to personally understand its Department of Civil Engineering. The students had the opportunity to explore the Vibration Table Laboratory and Wind Tunnel Laboratory, gaining a profound understanding of our country's industrial development. In the afternoon, they visited the Three Gorges Museum and Science and Technology Museum, followed by a ride on the distinctive Chongqing transportation, the "Yangtze River Cableway," deepening their understanding of Chongqing's history and urban development.
Finally, the itinerary included a special arrangement for the students to taste the famous Chongqing hot pot, bringing a perfect conclusion to the journey. This study tour provided a rich and fulfilling experience for both teachers and students.
